Supplication for anxiety and sorrow

"O Allah, I am Your servant, son of Your servant, son of Your maidservant. My forelock is in Your hand; Your ruling over me is carried out; and Your decree concerning me is just. I ask You by every name belonging to You, by which You have named Yourself, or sent down in Your Book, or taught to any of Your creation, or reserved within the knowledge of the unseen with You — that You make the Qur'an the spring of my heart, the light of my chest, the departure of my sorrow, and the cessation of my anxiety."

"Taught it to any of Your creation" — i.e., the angels and prophets. "The spring of my heart" — i.e., its joy.

[Sahih Ibn Hibban 972; al-Kalim at-Tayyib 124]
