Placing children under Allah's protection

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ would often place al-Hasan and al-Husayn (may Allah be pleased with them both) — the Prophet's ﷺ grandsons — under Allah's protection by saying:

"I place you both under the protection of the perfect words of Allah — from every devil, from every venomous creature, and from every evil eye."

"The perfect words of Allah" refers either to His names or to the words of the Qur'an [al-Mubarakpuri, Tuhfat]. The pronoun ending changes with the number and gender of those being protected: u‘idhu-ka (m. sg.), u‘idhu-ki (f. sg.), u‘idhu-hu (for him), u‘idhu-ha (for her), u‘idhu-kuma (for two), u‘idhu-kum (m. pl.).
