Morning and Evening Adhkar

The Prophet ﷺ said: "To sit with people remembering Allah the Exalted from after the morning prayer until sunrise is dearer to me than freeing four slaves from the descendants of Isma‘il. And to sit with people remembering Allah the Exalted from after the ‘Asr prayer until sunset is dearer to me than freeing four such slaves" [Abu Dawud 3667; Silsila as-Sahiha 2916].

It is recommended to begin with: "All praise be to Allah alone, and blessings and peace upon him after whom there is no prophet" (Al-hamdu li-Llahi wahda-hu wa-s-salatu wa-s-salamu ‘ala man la nabiyya ba‘da-hu).

№75. It is recommended to begin with "I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil" and then recite Ayat al-Kursi. Whoever recites it in the morning will be protected from the jinn until evening, and whoever recites it in the evening — until morning [an-Nasa'i, ‘Amal al-Yawm 960; Sahih at-Targhib 662].

"I seek refuge in Allah from the accursed devil. Allah — there is no god but He, the Ever-Living, the Sustainer. Neither slumber nor sleep overtakes Him. To Him belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is on the earth. Who is it that can intercede with Him except by His permission? He knows what lies before them and what is behind them, and they encompass nothing of His knowledge except what He wills. His Kursi extends over the heavens and the earth, and their preservation tires Him not. He is the Most High, the Magnificent."

[Qur'an 2:255; an-Nasa'i, ‘Amal al-yawm 960; Sahih at-Targhib 662]
