An innovation in the religion is rejected

On the authority of the Mother of the Believers, Umm Abdillah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), who said that the Messenger of Allah (may Allah bless him and grant him peace) said: "Whoever introduces into this affair of ours something that does not belong to it, it is rejected."

Related by al-Bukhari and Muslim. In Muslim's wording: “Whoever performs a deed that is not in accordance with this affair of ours, it is rejected.”
