Duas for the Day of Resurrection, light and salvation from the Fire
Supplications for the Day of Resurrection — "perfect our light for us and forgive us" (66:8), requests for protection from the Fire and for a house in Paradise, with sura and ayah.
The supplication for light on the Day of Resurrection is set down in Surah at-Tahrim: "Our Lord, perfect our light for us and forgive us. Truly You are able to do all things" (66:8).
The ten Quranic supplications on this page speak of one day and of how it ends. Those endowed with understanding ask, "our Lord, You did not create this in vain… Protect us from the punishment of the Fire" (3:191), and "do not disgrace us on the Day of Resurrection" (3:194). The servants of the Most Merciful ask that the punishment of Hell be turned away from them (25:65–66); Asiya (peace be upon her) asks for a house near Allah in Paradise (66:11).
From the Sunnah comes the chapter of supplications said after the final tashahhud and before the salam, among them the refuge from the punishment of Hell, from the punishment of the grave and from the trial of the false messiah. The Quranic supplications carry their sura and ayah; those from the Sunnah carry their hadith source.
